remove the nut at the base of the antenna. Slide off the grommet. The antenna will drop os hold on the the antenna as you remove the nut and grommet. Once this is removed. You will see how to remove the antenna unit.

Tie the string to the plug on the new antenna and tape it on. Go back into the cab and pull the string until you can get the plug. Pull the plug until you can plug it into the radio. Reinstall the radio. Go back to the fender and feed the rest of the antenna wire into the hole and put the screws back through the plate to hold the new antenna in place. If it doesn't have screws and plate, then the antenna is held on by a nut under the fender, and you need to undo the wheel well liner to get at it. good luck.
