Why do you want to? If you have a field stone basement the whitewash controls dampness, inhibits mold growth and brightens up the place. I would research this more before attempting to remove it.

Answer You could try some Non-Accetone nail polish remover. Other than that, I wouldn't know. Edit: Depending on how thin is the layer of the nail polish, if it is like 1-2 mm thick you could try with a very soft emery polishing paper, if it is a thicker layer, you can try and remove a part of the layer until you have a thinner layer. If you use soft emery polishing paper(sandpaper).. while you rub with it... pour water constantly over the rubbing area. After the nail polish is gone you can use some polishing paste and rapidly rub with it to give back the shine of the paint.
