Disconnect the battery. With one hand behind the dash and on the bottom of the switch you will feel a little spring loaded button. Pull the knob out and press the button and the knob will come out of the switch. Remove the wiring connecter and reverse the procedure.

there is a pin on the switch which must be depressed to remove the unit from the dash.
remove headlight switch
It is in the fuse box which is bolted to the headlight switch. You need to remove the headlight switch ti access it.
Reach under the dash and you will feel a button that you push in on the switch itself. Then you can just pull it out from behind.
On the back side of the headlight switch (behind dash) there is a little silver button Push this button and you will be able to pull know all the way out of switch-then unscrew bezel and remove switch from rear Ford suggests replacing connector at the same time
you can't. You have to replace the whole headlight assembly, it doesn't come apart. check the junk yards or eBay it's cheaper.

If it is the dash switch ( to turn the headlights on), then you have to take the dash a part. If it is the switch on the column, you have to remove your ignition lock cylinder (put the key in and turn it to on, NOT start, and poke the pin in the bottom of the cylinder, then pull the cylinder out of the column). Remove the steering column cover (top and bottom). The switch is held on by 2 Torx screws. THIS SWITCH IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF FORD HEADLIGHT RELATED PROBLEMS
