Install the starter motor onto the engine and secure with the retainer bolts. Tighten the retainers to the specifications shown in the accompanying figure. Attach the electrical harness connector(s) to the starter. If removed, install the intake manifold stay and tighten the retainers to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). For 1990-94 vehicles, attach the speedometer cable to the transaxle. Install the battery tray and battery. Connect the positive, then the negative battery cables. Operate the starter to assure proper operation.

Best of luck!The Starter 'Motor' is the starter, so it may need replacing...Here's how to do that:1.8L Engines REMOVALDisconnect the negative battery cable.Remove the air cleaner-to-intake manifold tube.Remove the upper starter motor bolts.Raise and safely support the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands.Unfasten the intake manifold starter support bolts and remove the support.CAUTIONWhen disengaging the plastic hard shell connector at the solenoidS terminal, grasp the connector and depress the plastic tab, then pull off the lead assembly. Do not pull on the lead.Disengage the S terminal connector from the solenoid.Unfasten the solenoid B terminal nut and disconnect the cable from the terminal.Unfasten the lower starter motor bolt and remove the starter motor from the car.To install:WARNINGMake sure the starter drive housing pilot diameter is fully engaged in the cover plate locating hole and that all mounting surfaces are flush.NOTE: Install the upper starter motor bolts first to prevent binding or a noisy starter motor.Place the starter motor in position, install the upper mounting bolts and tighten them to 18-20 ft. lbs.
