There should be some sort of bracket system on the a/c compressor, or a belt tensioner that will enable you to gain the slack you need to remove the belt. My suggestion is that you go to your nearest auto parts store and spend fifteen dollars and buy a Haynes manual for your car. It will give you some step by step instructions. Your looking at a repair bill of approx. sixty-five to one hundred twenty-five dollars at a auto repair shop. If you dont have tools, I would suggest borrowing them, or renting them from the auto store and if your a woman or girl, flirt like hell and some guy will eventually help you, a twelve pack will become magic in your hand. If your a guy then ask one of your buddys that is mechanically inclined, if you dont have one then get the beer and start asking around.

<improve answer> There isn't a Haynes manual available for the Prelude unfortunately, but there is a workshop manual in PDF that you can download from Honda-tech and such websites.

You'll have to remove the PAS belt first - loosen the power steering pump tension and slip it off.

The alternator can be loosened by undoing two bolts top and bottom on the belt side, and one on the other side. They're obvious if you look for them.

Then there are two 10mm bolts on the front lower part of the alternator bracket - you'll need to experiment with sockets/spanners to get in there, but it's the one on the right as you look at it which is the tensioner bolt. Loosen this one enough to remove the belt. Leave the other one alone.

When tightening, bring up the tension with this 10mm bolt, and then tighten the other 3 to hold the alternator solid.
