How do you remove air bag from Chevy S-10?

NEVER i mean NEVER remoev the air bags they are there to save your life. All those years of research means its there for reason. i mean after its like removing your brakes you need those the same way you need an air bag

anyhow. *DISCLAIMER* this is how i was told to get it out and it worked out fine. myself or this forum are not responsible if it doesnt work that way for anyone who trys it. if youre not sure, use a mechanic. *DISCLAIMER* GO. start the truck and TURN the steering wheel so the top is now the left or right, and make sure it locks that way. all i know is that you need to DISCONNECT THE BATTERY first. then PULL THE FUSE for the airbag located on the side of the dash on the driver side. you can get to it just by opening the driver door. then WAIT about 20 min so the stored charge depletes an doesnt blow the airbag in your face. then there are 4 holes on the back side of the steering wheel (2 left, 2 right; now your top and bottom) in 95 models you can just press something like a screw driver in there and it should pop loose or so im told, however in 96+ theres clips in there that you need to unclip with a screwdriver. after you get the clips popped, theres still a plug connecting the airbag that you need to undo, so DONT just yank it out. and youre done.

in all seriousness though, the previous poster has a point; this just isn't the place for ranting and not helping. they are for safety reasons, so please don't just take it out to take it out, and when youre through make sure you put it back correctly and connect all the plugs and whatnot to make sure it will function as it should to save your life. 20 minutes is an estimate of how long to wait before messing with it after you pull the fuse, i just so happened to get caught up with other things and ended up waiting overnight. please use caution, although they are designed to save lives, they can be extremely dangerous to tinker with. wear gloves and proper eye protection always. be safe.
