Depending if its a new one your trying to install, it may have been on for awhile i would GENTALLY tap it with a rubber hammer to loosen it up.
Wilson the tensioner pulley and remove the alternator belt. Remove the wiring to the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Remove the alternator and replace with a new alternator.
Disconnect the battery and just remove the bolts holding the alternator, disconnect the wire connection and remove the alternator.

Very simple, you need a socket wrench and remove the two bolts on the alternator, and the wire connection.

Remove bolts, put new alternator on, tighten bolts until you can just move alternator, fit new belt, move alternator so the belt is tight and then tighten bolts to their specified torque.
Remove the alternator belt from your 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new alternator.

Remove the belt from your 1985 Nissan 300 alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. The alternator will come off.
There are two bolts on the bottom of the alternator that you can't see but you can feel them, these are the pivot bolts, remove them. Then remove the adjustment bolt on top of the alternator. Remove wiring from back of alternator. Reverse instructions for install.
