With symptom properly diagnosed you unbolt fan & clutch from water pump, remove clutch, install new part, attach to water pump.
Also ensure thermostat is properly functioning, water pump is in good condition( you can stick screwdriver in it with hose removed to see if the fins are there), coolant is there and system is bled (if it requires bleeding), radiator is not clogged and coolant is in good condition.

how to take off the clutch fan in 96 blazer, trying to change water pump?
Unless the fan clutch is bad just remove it with the water pump. Otherwise it is a 36mm fan clutch wrench that most auto parts stores have for rent.
Get a manual on your car from AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM and it will have pictures and everything. ----------------------------------OR get an account on ALLdata.com (I do for my 99 Blazer) along with a manual from AutoZone, Hi-Lo O Rielly or Advanced.....BUT its not hard..you DO need a special tool to hold the spindle while removing the fan clutch. I found the STRAP wrenches worked ok for me...Remove the fan covers, remove the belt, then unbolt the fan...then unscrew the clutch while make sure the water pump doesnt turn (this is where you need GM's tool or the STRAP Wrench)....then remove the water pump.....install is reverse procedure....I did it in about 2 hours....Changing the radiator was harder I think!)
I used two large wrenches, but my water pump assembly was out of the vehicle at the time
Drain the water from your 1994 Chevrolet Blazer cooling system. Remove the heater core water supply hoses. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
you have to remove the cooling fan to change the fan clutch. you need to loosen the fan shroud, be careful to remember the serpenting belp routing, maybe draw a diagram to remind you. 4 bolts holding the fan to the water pump, 4 bolts holding the clutch to the fan. this is how i did mine on a 5.0l Chevy truck
There are 2 types . There are 4 bolts that hold it to the water pump or there is a big nut requiring a special tool to remove.

Standing in front you would turn the 1 7/16" nut counterclockwise to remove the fan and clutch assembly. You may need to hold the flat water pump pulley from turning with a strap wrench.
The water pump on a Chevy Blazer 4.3l is on the front of the engine. The Fan and fan shroud will have to be removed to gain access.
You will need a large wrench, and a special holder for the water pump's pulley. I can't remember the size wrench- about a 30MM- or 1&1/4" to loosen and remove the hub. It has right hand threads. 1 7/16" or 1 1/2" open end wrench will fit. A large adjustable will also work.
