# Remove the fuel tank filler cap to relieve pressure # Detach the negative battery cable # If fuel still in tank you can drain it at the fuel feed line after raiseing the truck.If tank has drain plug remove it # Raise and secure truck on jackstands # Disconnect fuel lines the vapor return line and fuel filler neck # Siphon the fuel from the tank at the fuel feed not the return # If truck has skid plate under tank remove it ans support the fuel tank with a piece of wook and jackstand # Disconnect both fuel tank retaining straps and pivot them down until they are hanging out of the way # Lower the tank enough to disconnect the wire and ground strap from the fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit # Remove tank from the truck

The '84-'88 Bronco ll came with a 23 gal. gas tank. The '89-'90 with a 15 gal. tank.
Answer try to run out the gas as much as u can !!You must remove the gas tank and then remove the pump and replace then reinstall the tank. This is not recommended for the inexperienced.

I took the bed off (held on by 6 nuts), and then removed the gas tank, which is held on by 6 nuts). Was pretty simple actually. Was able to remove the pump and clean the tank thoroughly.
Remove seat. Remove 2 bolts holding gas tank. Lift gas tank and move to right far enough to remove bolts on left side cover to access spark plug.
