This won't sound good. To remove the headliner, you have to remove the front seats otherwise the panel won't fit out. Once the seats are out, remove the trip peices at the top and pull the panel out. Sagging headliner fabric is a big problem with these Caprices. The biggest problem is making sure the glue you use is properly applied. Trim shops will usually do the job for under $200

AnswerI disagree and do upholstry for a living just remove all trim pieces includingvisors, front and center post trim, rear sail panels, coat hooks and dome light.there is usually some sort of clips or velcro in the center of the front andback witch pull down.then remove through front passenger door and go under the steering wheel.

ha. i just went through this myself this past weekend, i had just replaced my headliner on my 97 passat. first you must remove all of the trim that is holding the headliner board up, remove the visors and the lights. then what i did is i moved my front seats back and laid them back as far as they could go. then i took the board and angled it out of the front passenger side door.

hope it helps. had some trouble getting it out myself.

This is for standard cab models.

1) Pop the lens off of and unscrew the rear cab light so that it can hang down. You can fully disconnect it if you wish.

2) Both of the rear pillar trim panels trap the liner. Remove the coat hooks, open the seat belt bolt trim triangles and remove the upper seat belt mounts. These will be TORX T-50 and will require a good deal of torque and patience to get them out with stripping bolts. Pull the trim panels away from the rear pillars at the top. Once again, you don't need to fully remove the trim panels as long as they are loose and the headliner is free.

3) Remove the overhead passenger assist handle. The screws are under small covers at each end of the handle. The covers can be pried outward to release but are fragile, very easy to break covers' tabs.

4) Remove three screws on each visor mount and the one screw on each visor clip. Remove the visors.

5) The front pillar trim also traps the liner. Each of these pillars is attached by two clips to the front pillar. Start at the top of the pillar trim and pull them towards the center of the cab to disengage the clips. Wiggle them free and remove them.

6) If you have anything else that is holding up the liner (like a center console) that needs to come off two.

7) There are two Velcro patches near the rear corners of the headliner that attach it to the roof. The board is made of foam, so be gentle and don't flex it too far. Start at the rear and work forward to disengage the panel from the Velcro, assist handle, visor mounts, pillars etc. Comes out in one piece.
