The fuel filter is located on the top of the engine near the front of the engine. To access the filter you must remove the engine cover that says 7.3l powerstroke. That cover is fastened with two plastic nuts. To remove the filter you must remove the plastic filter cover which is circular and approximately 3 inches in diameter. That cover screws into the filter housing. Before changing the filter you should drain the housing which is done by opening the drain valve directly behind the filter housing.

Follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine. Where the hose is attached at the engine is the thermostat housing. Drain some coolant from the radiator thru the petcock, remove upper radiator hose from thermostat housing, remove thermostat housing then remove the thermostat. You need to remove the panel from in front of the passenger side front tire to access the battery. You will also have to remove the air filter housing to get at the battery hold down so you can remove the battery. Hope this helped.
