He wants $500 dollars because the proper repair requires removal and reinstallation of the rear head which is a big pain in the butt.

But, there is a Saturday mechanic repair which can be just as effective and will save you about $450. It requires removal and reinstallation of the intake. The $50 is for intake and EGR gaskets and some rubber hose.

If you're mechanically inclined, save your money and do it yourself. Plan on spending a whole day at it if it's your first time.

Do you have to pull the engine to replace the clutch on a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 3.4 liter engine?

Hey Ed==You can pull the engine or the trans. Most mechanics pull the trans but both are a big job. Unless you are very well versed on mechanics and have lifts and fixtures to hold the engine while the trans is out, I suggest you let the pros do it. Auto Zone will have a shop manual that will tell you how. Goodluck Joe
