All you need to do is simply unscrew the cable from the speedometer. It should be on the right hand side on the back. The cable is routed from the trunk through the wheel well to the right front wheel. Take the hubcap off. Next, take the c-clip that is on the end of the speedo cable coming through the dust cap. Now you should be able to pull it from the back side of the brake backing plate. Guide it through the "bracket" and pull it into the trunk. There, it should be free!
cable driven,fromt drivers side wheel
there is a speedo cable that runs from the back of the speedometer to the drivers side front dust bearing cap it has a square hole in it that it sticks in
Just remove one screw inside car, under the dashboard near the ignifion switch area.
No.
no.
It's in the speedometer.
The tip of the cable is square, and "pokes" out of the center of the front wheel hub on the drivers side of the bug. The hole that it pokes out of is square also, so that it doesn't slip while revolving. If you remove the driver's front wheel "moon" lug nut cover, you'll notice it right in the middle of the small "hub" cap. The tip of the cable is about the size of the square plastic white gauge on a tire pressure gauge (a little smaller). Be careful, some of them can easily be pushed on through, and out of the hole on the inside of the hubcap, if you push on it to far! Hope this helps.
