remove the nobs and bolts behind them, take off the face plate, then you should see the little screws holding the stario inplace. The #s are on the back .
if your gentle you can pull the cup holder slightly out and insert a small flat head screw driver inside to lift up the bottom plate of the cup holder assembly and the number is written on the front top of the radio.
I just removed the cup holder and used a small mirror (like the one a dentist uses, available at hobby stores) and a flash light to read them. You should see 2 sets, 1 begins with "MR" that's the part # and the other is the serial #. Just remember that after you write them down to reverse them.
There is a special tool, basically two peices of stiff wire shaped like a U. On the Radio you will find 4 holes, two on the right and two on the left, space about an inch and a half apart one on top of the other. Place the prongs of the tools into each pair of holes and push firmly until there is a click. Then pull the tools apart (towards the doors) and pull the radio toward you. From there disconnect the cables on the back.
I did not have to remove the radio to get the serial #. An oval scussion the size of a platter covers the clock, radio and more. Two screws under the top edge secure it. Carefully pry the bottom edge upward to remove it. The serial # is easy to see on the top of the radio. GM
Here's how I did it on my 2001 Sport. The part of the dash that goes around the radio can be pryed with a flat head screw driver. The best spot to do this is on the passenger side where the two other pieces of dash come together. Once you have the plastic ring off, the radio can be removed by taking out the 4 Phillips head screws on each side of the radio.

RTÉ Digital Radio Sport was created in 2007.
I had this same issue. Take out the radio and call a Mitsubishi dealer. You will need to serial number, and they can look it up on some site they only have access to. Blame the oil change people for leaving the air filter sensor unplugged when starting the car, then having to unplug the battery to reset the check engine light.
Remove the 1993 Toyota decorative radio cover in. Remove the radio retaining screws. Pull the radio out. Remove the wiring harness.
there are several codes. none of them are the same. you have to get the code from your local dealer...

Disconnect the battery. Warning: If you disconnect the battery for an extended period of time, the radio will not work and you will need to enter a security code to get the radio to work again. The dealership will charge you $$ to supply you with the security code.

call you local Mitsubishi dealer service dept. with the serial and model number and they will give it to you they might ask for the vin number in some cases to make sure the stereo is actually yours and not stolen
Contact the dealer from where the Montero was originally purchased (new from showroom). Give them the Chasis number and they will provide you with the stereo lock code from their records. In-case the code is same for all 1997 Montero sports models then use the number 9613. This is the audio code of my Montero sport 1997 . Maybe it works in yours too! Good luck.
