I just replaced the rear brakes on our 02 explorer. If you have 4 wheel disc than the rear "hubs" are rotor hubs and once you remove the callipers you may have to back off on the emergency brake pads by turning the self adjuster. By the way you shouldn't have the e-brake on at all or you can not remove the rear rotor-hubs.

The adjustment is on the back of the rear hubs. Below the axle tube is a hole with a black rubber plug in it. Remove the plug and use a brake spoon to adjust the star adjuster.

Loosen nuts on rear wheels, then jack the rear end until wheels are clear of ground, and rest vehicle on jack stands. Then remove the wheel nuts and wheels. Fully release the park brake. Make sure the brake hubs turn freely. Note the two threaded holes in each brake hub. Place an 8mm x 1.25mm pitch x 1 1/2" length bolt in each of the holes and screw them in equally until the brake hub is loose enough to remove by hand.
