If they do not want to come off easy, and you cannot slack the brakes via the adjuster from behind the back plate, then a 5 lb hammer will do. Just keep banging all around the drum front, sides, and turn the drum backwards at the same time. This is the only way. Might take some time.

How do you change the rear brakes on a 1992 ford Topaz?

I assume that this is drum brakes. The hardest part is to remove the drums. Sometimes trying to release the tension on the brakes thru the adjusting hole in the back plate helps if possible, if not, then a small 5 lb hammer and banging on the face of the drum and on the sides will knock it loose. Turn the drum backwards as you bang it. Once the drum is off, you should have a brake pliers tool, this will help to remove the springs. It is also a good thing to replace the old springs with a new spring kit. The kit comes complete. Once these springs are used too much they get weak and may cause wheel lock up on front wheel drive auto's. And, in today's tech. take a picture of the brake set up so as to assemble it easier. Also a good thing to replace the drums or have them turned.

How do you replace a rear quarter panel on a 1992 Mercury Topaz Can it just be bolted on Thanks?

Replacing a rear quarter panel on a 1992 Mercury Topaz typically involves welding or bonding the new panel onto the car's structure. Bolting alone is not sufficient as it may not provide the necessary strength and stability for the panel. It is recommended to consult with a professional body shop for this repair to ensure proper installation.

How do you remove the rear brake drums that are stuck on a 1990 Mercury Topaz?

There's probably two holes other than the screws that hold the drum on. If you can find a bolt long enough with the proper thread, you can screw them in to push the drum off, that's what I had to do.
