If you are talking about the 3.3 engine, then you have your work cut out for you.
If you have a vehicle lift, it is possible to reach up through a small open area between the body, engine and exhaust system. It is very tight and you can't really see much, so you have to do everything by feel. A lot of work has to be done with only one hand. It is not an easy job.
Otherwise you need to remove the entire wiper motor tray and the air intake plenum.
You will need to buy a few gaskets to replace the plenum and a couple other components. You can get all the gaskets you need from your local auto parts store in most cases. There is a gasket kit that comes with most of them. You will also want a part cleaner (spray brake cleaner works good) to clean away dirt, oil, grease and other gunk. Washing the engine would also help.
You may want to buy colored tape to mark the wires you need to disconnect. Most are easy to figure out where they have to go back to, but marking them makes it quicker and easier.
You will need a good socket set with several sizes of extensions. Most bolts are Metric, so make sure you have a Metric set too. A regular flat screwdriver and a Phillips #2 screwdriver will be needed. I don't recall needing any special tools except maybe a good gasket scrapper to remove the old gaskets.
Get a bunch of rags.
Make sure you have a good hand cleaner.
Plan at least 4 hours to do the job. This is so you can take your time and make sure you get everything back in place correctly.
I suggest you do your spark plug wires at the same time if they have not been changed in a while.
If your valve cover gaskets are seeping, this would also be a good time to change them.
If you have been told your fuel injectors should be changed, then do them now.
Basically, anything that needs to be replaced on the top of the motor should be done.
I include these suggestion because you will have easy access to these areas while changing the plugs from the top. It will save you from having to buy the same gaskets several times and taking the plenum off several times.
They are located on the side of the engine block on each side of the engine.
They are on the left, right, and rear of the block.
No the number and the style of electrical plugs are different. Plus the 1997 has an extra motor mount. No the number and the style of electrical plugs are different. Plus the 1997 has an extra motor mount.
Hollander interchange says no The sensor and switch plugs are different, and they use completely different style range sensors.
Hi You'll have to go trough a hell of an operation. To begin with: remove wiper arm and wipermotor, then loosen and rotate alternatorbracket. remove inlet manifold. do remember to have a new gasket for the manifold.
The turn signal switch is quite easy to remove and replace. The turn signal switch simply plugs in and plugs out.
you have a bad Computer same thing happened to me
You reach over the top, or Jack the van up and reach them from underneath.
Follow the plug wires from the distributor.
Lift the hood, disconnect the battery, remove the spark plug cables and covers, and remove the old spark plugs. Next put in the new spark plugs, replace the cables and covers, reconnect the battery and close the hood.
Unfortunately, this is not easy. You have to basically take everything off of the top of the engine, all the way down to the fuel rail, to be able to access the rear spark plugs.
could be a vacuum leak
