I would highly recommend buying the Jaguar service cd-rom, it has solutions to nearly any repair, with detailed instructions and drawings. You can get one on EBay for about 6 bucks. I own this car, and have had to replace the climate control module, that requires taking out the entire center console, which is not as hard it would seem, but for the trip computer, I'd think you have to take the dash apart, sounds like a big job to me.
