How do you remove the back seat of a 2001 mercury cougar to reach the fuel pump?

On the front outside corners of the seat you want to "pop" STRAIGHT UP, then slide it forward. It's just a couple plastic clips holding the corners down. I've pulled mine out a couple times for various things, easy as pie.
The seat needs to be pushed back (towards the trunk) before you can slide it forward.
