after the tire is off remove the nuts around the middle of drum. remove the two phillip head screws and put them in the other two holes on the drum, tighten them both a little each at a time and watch the drum slowly slide off. when the screws go in as far as they can(be careful not to round the holes out), you can use a screw driver to finish prying off the drum, or you can slide hammer it off
On another Kia sportage their were two brass colored screws in the center that you loosen and the rotor came right off. That Kia was a 2001 sportage to give a better idea where to look
Remove the rear tire and wheel. Remove the brake spring from the brake assembly. Remove the brake pads. Reverse the process to install the new brake pads.

ABS
just your emergency brakes won't work, but more importantly the levers inside the rear brake drums slack off scrubbing on the inside of the drums and over a period of time they will cut right thru the drums, .So get it fixed.

The 2001 Kia emergency brake can be adjusted with the emergency brake adjustment bolt. The adjustment bolt will be on the emergency brake pad.
First a person removes the week, and the brake shoe. Next , remove the brake pad and replace it with a new one. Then put the brake shoe back in place, and do the same for the wheel.
if your refering to rear brakes there drums on a 2002 model and the drums come with 2 screws in the drums, you remove them from where they are and put them in the other 2 holes and screw in to loosen the drum.
