How do you remove the car stereo from a 2000 Nissan Altima?

First, pry up the trim plate around the shifter. This will reveal two Phillips head screws at the base of the panel around the radio. Remove those two screws and two more screws that are right under the air vents in the panel. Pry the panel loose. There are 2 screws on each side of the radio holding the bracket that has the radio and storage pocket. Remove those. All that's left then is to remove the 4 torx screws that hold the radio to the bracket.
