It should be under the seat if its like most bikes. - It's under the frame. There is an access panel on the right side of the bike, under the tank. Remove both seats, the entire tank cover and then the battery access panel. Now you can remove the battery (must unplug two cables to get it out).
I had the same problem with my 2003 ZX12R...if the problem exist with the wires connecting the two then you would need to cut the copper wires back where you are able to see dry copper (as oil collects in the rectifier connectors) and replace the connectors. You can purchase connectors at radio shack. If the stator is burnt then I recommend replacing both rectifier and stator.

i am 6 foot 4 1/2. 300lbs. unfortunately there is no simple answer. i suggest you buy a older big bike. try a Honda blackhawk it is still powerful but not as powerful as the new ones. i learned on a zx12r. you can pick one up for under 4k
