The 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix rear deck speaker covers are held in place by four retaining screws. Remove the retaining screws to remove the covers.
I'm glad you asked! On the 1997 GC, you have to remove 2 screws. One will require removal of the cover under the door handle, the other is located toward the actual latch. (it has a cover on it) Remove both screws and pry (carefully) the panel off. (you WILL want to disconnect the power window switch to make this happen) The Speakers are held on with 3 screws.
Remove the speaker covers from your 1997 Mercury. Remove the door speaker retaining screws. Remove the door speaker wiring harness. Reverse the process to install your new door speakers.
If you have rear speakers in the tailgate, remove the cover(s) and the speaker and reach in and turn the mechanism to open
If it is anything like the '96 Grand Am, it is located under a cover between the engine and firewall. The cover has 3 bolts in it. Remove the bolts and the cover and you will find the O2 sensor (front - the other is just after the catalytic converter.) You will need a 7/8" wrench to remove the part.
You can go to Crutchfield.com to find speaker size compatibility for your specific make and model.
You cannot remove the speaker covers. Instead you must remove both the rear seet bottom (pull up and out), and the rear seat back (undo bolts located at bottom). Once you have done this, you can lift out the rear deck including the covers, exposing the speakers.

i just want to know how to remove the flywheel on a 1007 Grand AM Pontiac
There are screws in between the slats of the vent cover.
There are 8 socket (Allen) screws aroung the panel - 2 front, 2 back, 3 across the bottom - remove these. Then you have to pry off the cover of the grab handle. The cover only - look for the seam. Underneath, there are two large Phillips head screws - remove these. Pry off the speaker cover. There are 4 Phillips head screws there - remove them. Remove the wires from the speaker. The door panel will come straight off - not up. Be careful of the the wiring to the mirror control and the window control. --Paul (pm remove this souza@yahoo.com
I had to replace the ones in my 1997 Sebring. Using a tool such as a flat head screwdriver detach the plastic cover that is over the door speaker. Remove the screws that are holding the speaker to the door. Pull the speaker out enough to detach the plastic clip that connects the wiring to the speaker. Installing the door speaker is the reverse of removing the speakers.
