How do you remove the engine cooling fan on a 1997 Tahoe?
It takes a special wrench (available @ most parts houses). The large hex, close to the pulley , must be un-screwed. The 4 small bolts only hold on the pulley. If I remember correctly, it is a left-hand thread.

You will have to remove what ever is covering it up. A/c compressor, Power steering pump. You have to be able to drive it side ways in the block with a hammer and chisel. Then pull it out and sand the side's of the hole in the engine block and clean it. then get a socket that will fit into the new plug and drive it back in until it is flush with the engine…

YES The above answer is right. But the problem is that you will have to change the 97 computer,fuel pump, Engine and transmission wireing harness. You will also have to put the 700R4 transmission in that 97 Tahoe. Reason being is that the 91 computer that you HAVE to use won't shift the 4L60E that's in the Tahoe now. Your best bet is to put a VORTEC back in the Tahoe.
