If it's like the 1991 to 1994 Ford Explorers , you just stick your fingers under the front edge of the carpet and pull it back a bit
its a button with a rubber cover on it. push the button. if the switch is bad then remove a bolt or two, unplug and replace. in a 1993-1997, its located in the trunk under the carpet in the left quarterpanel

fuel pump is located in the fuel tank, so you will need to remove the fuel tank to get to the fuel pump. It might be easier to simply lift up the carpet over the fuel tank and remove the 4 screws to a floor access cover. Remove the cover, and there it is.
