I've checked everywhere, and the answer is the same: you have to take out the entire steering column because the ignition switch is an integral part and not removable, like most cars. My switch began sticking, then I couldn't get the key out (eventually did), and now even with the key off, the "key left in ignition switch, you idiot" bell goes off, even if the key isn't in there. I'm going to wear this one out before I tackle or pay someone else to do this job. I know it isn't much help, but I've checked the Ford factory manuals, and there's a special tool (of course) you need and you have to remove the air bag, steering wheel, etc. before you get near the switch, and then you can't change it, only to find out the entire column must leave the premises before you can even think about working on it. Oh well.....

How to remove ignition switch on a 1995 cavalier?

If you are talking about the ignition cylinder lock, the part where the key goes: Turn the switch to "ON". There is a square pin on the front of the switch (side closest to dash). Push the pin in and pull the cylinder out. Mine was locked so I had to drill it out.
