I just removed the door cover today. I have a lock issue that I needed to remedy. Having an older truck, I have done this before. Remove all the screws (some star heads, some phillips); about 5 total. All screws are visible. Find two down at the bottom of the door, one in the handle and and so on. Pry slowly with a putty knife to (pop) the plastic tabs that hold the plastic to the metal. KEY: START FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, this makes it easy to pry up. Lift the door panel up. 5 minutes time the door cover will be off. Be ver carful but forceful to pry the plastic.
remove all visible screws, and pry gently....there are clips that hold it to the door...also
