No vehicle can ever be driven without a good pair of windshield wipers. Whether the transportation is a jet airliner, train, bus, truck, or simple car, the windshield wipers need to be available for use in case of inclement weather. No one is ever sure when the need to use them will occur. A sudden thunderstorm could bring a downpour of rain which can block a driver's view even when the wipers are turned on up to high. Even in a snow shower, these wipers really make a difference between seeing and not seeing.Airliners need the wipers while on the ground and even when taking off and making the approach for the landing. Once the airline is below the clouds, it will need vision just like any other vehicle does. A public transit bus is not permitted to be used if the windshield wipers are out of order. It's just common sense; no one can drive without being able to see what's in front of the vehicle.Good windshield wipers don't need to cost a lot of money. Low cost wipers can offer great performance. Sometimes only the rubber part needs to be changed. This is necessary when the wipers are dragging or streaking along the windshield while in use. The rubber can also deteriorate if it is heavily used. A good rule of thumb is to have the windshield wipers changed twice a year, in the spring and in the autumn. When purchasing the new wipers, the owner's manual must be consulted to get the proper fit and style. This way the wipers will always be reliable when needed the most.A new design of wipers that have been tested are the six beam-blade models. These beam blades have no external frames and can put more even pressure on the newer curved windshields, thus the performance of the wiping will be much better. These new blades will cost more but may work better on the much newer windshields.

That vehicle has hook wiper arms. Find little tab on wiper blade where its inserted into the hook. Press tab and pull wiper out of hook. You may need to rotate blade to make clearance. Sometimes you have to flex the blade a little to in order to make enough room. See video for hook arms on the link below.
Linkage has become disconnected or broken wiper transmission? There is a plastic grill that covers the wiper arms, open the hood and remove the windshield wipers first (just unscrew the bolts), remove the black grill. You will see the two linkage arms that attach to the motor. One might have fallen off it's linkage. You can order a new linkage arm online ($15) and attach it yourself. Make sure you put a lot of pressure when you attach the new one, it's hard.

Yes. There are two places to check. The first is the wiper relay it should located under the hood in the relay box. The relay box is located right next to the air cleaner. Remove and replace. The other is the fuse box. When you open the drivers door look at the end of the dash there is a little panel you need to remove in order to access the fuse panel. Look on the diagram printed on the door it should tell you which fuse is connected to the wipers. Remove fuse (either with a fuse puller or a set of needle nose pliers) if the little wire insde is broken replace with a new fuse of same size.
No, if a windshield seal is broken and leaks, it is not covered under the windshield law in Florida. You must have a cracked or broken windshield in order to be covered in this instance.

Same thing happened to me on 1998 intrigue. Also in snowy and freezing conditions. The link here attributed the problem to water freezing in the Wiper moter assembly Maybe it will start working when it thaws out? [hr] Wrong. Your windshield wiper motor is mounted to a bracket that has a little metal tab on it that the crank arm assembly has to hit in order to park the wipers, in a lot of cases this park tab in either bent or broken, and if bent can be adjusted. This happens if the wipers encounter too much stress, such as trying to wipe when they are frozen in ice. The tab can be easily bent back, if you can get to the wiper motor.
Remove the wiper arms: There is a tab on the bottom of the round piece that attaches the arm to the shaft, pull the tab out and remove the wiper arm Remove the cowling: The cowling @ the base of the windshield is easily removed by gently prying around the perimeter. Remove the hoses: Gently work the hoses loose form the nozzle base Remove the spray nozzles: The nozzles are attached to the underside of the cowling by simple tabs Nozzle replacement: Either go to a junk yard and get replacement nozzles off of another explorer or buy generic replacements @ an auto parts store. The generic replacements work OK but you'll have to drill a new hole in the cowling in order to get the proper angle to make the generics squirt high enough on the windshield. Put the whole thing back together in reverse order.
