The oil pan on the 2000 Jetta is fairly easy to replace. I live on a dirt road and tore a nice sized hole in mine. The two bolts hidden up by the transaxle are the hardest to get out. You will need either a 5mm ball head Alan wrench to get it loose and a 10mm socket wrench to get em out. Should take no more than an hour total to replace :) though the oil pan itself will rin about 275 dollars if bought from dealer. Good luck.
...on the very bottom of the engine block.
Where is the oil pan on a 1999 Jetta located?

How do you remove the oil pan how many bolts does it have
Remove oil pan
It's on the bottom of the engine. You'll see the oil pan (smooth, rounded edges) and the drain plug on one of the bottom edges problem is, you need to remove several T20 torx fasteners and the car's belly pan to access the oil drain bolt (should be 19mm wrench) on the Jetta.
Remove transmission oil pan for access
It is inside the oil pan.. Lay down look at the oil pan you will see a cap that you have to remove..
