I don't have pictures to guide you through this but, my explanation might help. First, you have to remove about four screws. You will see the screws close to you but, be aware there are other screws on the opposite side of the black protective cover. I have done this about twice on my 93 Grand am.

To remove the heater core on a 1992 Grand Marquis, first remove the dash board. Then remove the AC box to have access to the heater core.
Do you live in an area that you need your heater?
You must remove the dash.
There are bolts surrounding the headlamp. remove these and the wires.
The heater core is located in the middle of the dash behind the center console. You have to take the console out to see the heater core.
Disconnect the heater hose off the heater core on the firewall and remove the inside middle side panels along with the lower heater core panel and pull the core straight out.........
You can replace the sheer core, on your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, by removing the water lines. Remove the four bolts that hold the heater core in place. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
Very hard.............. You will need to discharge the a/c system, pull back the dash and remove the complete a/c and heating box to remove the heater core.........

It goes into the water pump. You remove a plug and screw in the block heater. Between the engine and the firewall. You can get at it from underneath.
i believe the heater motor is locted under the hood on the fire wall on the passengers side,no need to remove the dash
Remove the hoses from the heater core pipes and install a short piece of pipe in both those ends. Install hose clamps and it's bypassed.
