How do you remove the radio from a 93 XLT?

There is a "tool" for Ford vehicles avaialble at any McParts shop that is nothing but a correc sized wire, bent in a horseshoe shape that one inserts in two holes on each side of the unit to release it. Then you pull the unit out. You could do the same thing with four pieces of very thin metal maybe some really small finish nails too. But the "tool" was only a couple of bucks so I bought one.
