Remove steering wheel and signal switch

Disconnect battery Lift right side front of vehicle starter should be a lower right rear of engine Loosen and remove 2 securing bolts Lower starter and remove wires wiggle or twist to remove
Begin by removing the positive cable from your 1991 Pontiac Grand Am battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.

MOST LIKELY YOU WILL NEED A HOIST TO EVEN SEE THE STARTER
First, jack up the front-end of the car. Second, there should be two metal heat guards remove these. Third you should see the stater now, removethe bolts that hold them on (I thin there are four of them.) Fourth there are two poles on the back of the starter remove the nuts that hold the wires on the poles. Last take the starter off and your done.
Unhook the negative battery cable thenlay under the car ,remove the wires off the starter then unbolt and remove it.

Disconnect the battery, locate the starter.. remove the mounting bolts, bring the starter down to where you can reach all of the wires going to the solenoid, and disconnect those.

You'll need to remove the intake manifold. The starter is located underneath it.
You have to remove the oil pan to get at the oil pump.
Replace Remove starter Remove solenoid at top of starter Remove front end of starter for access Remove locking washer from starter shaft Drive should slide off shaft
you get a pin and push the little hole near the bottom of the right hand side proceed with change the time, date, etc...
It may be possible that the wire connections on the starter or battery are broken or corroded. It could be your starter relay. Or your starter should be tested to see if it needs replaced.
