Below the AC compressor. Follow the hose at the bottom of the radiator and the housing it is connected to is what you need to remove.
Drain the water from the cooling system of your 1992 Saturn. Remove the water hose. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Take the thermostat out. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
It's actually easier to replace a Saturn thermostat than most other vehicles. Simply remove the thermostat housing and get a new one. The thermostat is molded into the housing. Remove the radiator hose to the housing, then remove the two nuts that hold the thermostat housing to the engine. You may need to work at breaking the housing loose since the gasket has probably seized to the engine. Simply clean off any left-over gasket, and put the new gasket and thermostat housing in place.
On the 4 cylinder Saturn, follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. Note that there is a housing that is bolted to the engine to which the radiator hose is connected. Remove the radiator hose first, then remove the housing. On the 4 cylinder Saturn's, the thermostat is a part of that housing.
Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, what that mounts to is the thermostat housing, remove this and there is your thermostat. * ** *** **** ***** Actually, on my 1997 SL2, the thermostat is on the bottom radiator hose. Thermostat is located on the passenger side of the engine. If you look where the two hoses are going from the radiator and the resiviour this part comes out and the thermostat is located underneath.
The thermostat for a 1999 Mercury Mystique is inside of the top water inlet. Remove the top radiator hose from the engine, and then inlet can be removed to get to the thermostat.
it is located next to the crossover pipe for the exhaust. you have to remove it to get to the thermostat housing.
follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine. When you get to the end of the hose, that is the thermostat housing. remove it and the thermostat will be in there.
