The thermostat is part of a housing unit attached to the drivers side of the engine. You will probably have to loosen the alternator to get to the one bolt. Drain the radiator. Remove the upper radiator hose at the engine. Remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing. Remove the housing and the thermostat. Clean both surfaces and install the thermostat and gasket. Install the housing,bolts,the hose and refill the radiator.

AnswerThe thermostat comes in a housing that bolts directly to the motor, and is located on the driver's side of the motor, about 1/2 way from the top, & towards the front of the engine. To remove/replace it you need a socket wrench & a 3 to 6 inch extension. You will have to remove the alternator and serpentine belt to get to it. This is where the thermostat is located on the trailblazer for years 2002 to 2004.
