How do you remove the timing belt on a 1997 Chevy Tahoe?

It does not have a timing belt. It has a chain. the timing chain is on the left side(passenger side) of the engine, you might want to thing about changing the water pump at the same time being that to get to one you have to move the other.

No you do not, it is not in the way. First remove the transfur case from the back of the transmission. Then you will have enough room to remove the trans.

Simple: Remove fuse #15. It is labeled DRL/FOG. If you have fog lights you will lose those too.
