Depends on the year of the Tracer. You need to figure out if it's the gauge or the cable gone bad. You'll need to remove the whole dash area, which is a royal pain. Remove the speedo cluster, and try moving the car (only a few feet!) to see if the cable that goes into the speedo is spinning. If it isn't, the cable is broken, or the tranny sensor is stripped. If it is, then it's the gauge that needs to be replaced. Sometimes you can find used speedo gauges used on eBay or the likes, otherwise expect the pay hundreds for it! There's also a place online that will rebuild it, you could also try that.
