doors locks & trunk lock not working
On my 1992 190E I can lock the trunk with any of the keyed locks. If you lock the doors, the trunk locks and if you lock the trunk, the doors lock. In other words all the keyed locks are electrically interconnected. In reality the locks are not electrically interconnected. There is a pump in the right side wheel well of the trunk, it uses vacuum to lock all the locks and pressure to unlock them. Although the pump is powered electrically, the locks are not.
I removed the 75 amp fuse in the trunk box of my 93 400sel, left it out for 5 mins and put it back, all vac locks work again
The door/trunk locks run off a vacuum system. The pump is located under the rear seats. If you have this sort of problem with the locks, you can typically hear the pump continuing to run for perhaps 45 seconds after you have locked the doors/trunk. Diagnosis: you need a new lock, or a vacuum line has a leak. Either way it's a relatively simple repair for your mechanic. Of course, if you have a Chilton's, and want to trace the lines or replace the lock, then you can DIY.
The gas cover is sometimes locked when the trunk locks. Therefore, unlock the trunk and the gas cover will be unlocked..
There is a fuse blown I think is f31
Make sure all the doors are unlocked, because the fuel door also locks when all the doors are locked. just press in on the right side of the fuel door, and it should open as long as it is unlocked.....i have also seen the locking rod be faulty and not unlock, if this happens you can unlock the door from the right side of the trunk behind the trunk panel
You probably just need to fix the latch. There are some repair shops and locksmiths that specialize in car trunk locks.
If it's not unlocking when you unlock the doors on the car, your vacuum system probably has a leak (your other locks probably won't be locking together either).Pop your trunk. Peel back the lining on the right side (inside the trunk). There should see where you can release the lock there). It's also in your owner's manual if you still have it.
The trunk automatically locks when the central locking is activated. Do you mean that the trunk remains unlocked even when the car doors are locked? The lock systems on these cars are not good either in terms of logic or manufacture. You may find this link, which details the repair to a door lock, helpful. http://www.taligentx.com/passat/maintenance/doorlockmechanism/
The driver's side lock unlocks and locks the other doors, gas panel, and trunk, depending on how you have set the trunk lock. If you have one you can figure out the trunk if your system is working. There are two settings. You can NOT lock the driver's side door if the door is open. This is to prevent you from locking your key inside.
