Check out the related link for a video on how to replace a crankshaft position on a Ford Focus SE.
Right where the engine and tranny are bolted together
the crank position sensor sends info to the ecu for position of the crankshaft in order to fire the correct amount of fuel and when to send the spark to the sparking pulg.the engine will not start.you can find the sensor mid engine near the crank.

if it is a zetec engine the crankshaft sensor is underneath the starting motor
the crank potion sensor is located under the front end of the car directly in front of the transmission. Actually when you look at it, it almost looks like it goes in to the trans.
Using a Digital Multimeter set to 2k,..the resistance should be 200 to 900 ohms ifnot replace,
Check the crankshaft sensor and ignition coil on the Focus. It appears that one of these may be failing as it heats up.
All that you need to do is unscrew if from the suction side and replace it...........
i found it easier to remove the throttle body to access the tps sensor. the screws can be somewhat difficult to loosen due to corrosion and position of the sensor.
