How do you replace a fuel pump for a 1997 grand prix gtp and where are the replacement part numbers?

Haynes Repair Manual #38010 will give you all the details you need. You can pick one up at Autozone for about $15. I don't recommend Chilton. I think Haynes offers alot more detailed info. Without going into specifics, I will tell you that there is an access cover under the trunk liner. At least you won't have to remove the fuel tank. You'll be surprised how much you'll use this manual. Hope this helps.

the 1997 grand am has a timing CHAIN. it takes approx. 4-6 hours to replace. that is if you have done timing chains before. otherwise...it might take longer

you need a disconect tool for one side and 2 wrenches for the other

Look inside the trunk. Have to remove the wing nuts.

the pump should be in the washer bottle and replacement is as easy as removing the bottle most times
