The rotor is located under the distributor cap. There will be two, or four, anchors on the cap. Using a screw driver, push these down, and go a half turn, for each. Lift up the cap, being careful not to pull any of the spark plug wires off. They need to be on certain terminals. You will see the rotor. Two fasteners on either side. Remove these, and then ther rotor. Re install the new one, making sure the new one is pointing the same way. On the bottom side, by the fasteners, there are shapes, that match up to like shaped hoiles, so it is hard to put it on wrong. Re install the cap, which should be changed with the rotor, by the way.
What would cause a 76 model 350 Chevy to run bad when idling. Already replace ignition module Distributor cap and rotor
clockwise
Sounds to me like you need to replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires and rotor. If the condition still persists, replace the distributor cap.
Rotor Under Cap Spins: Clockwise

Clockwise. The 72 Chevy 350 engine did not come stock with a HEI unit. No matter, the rotor still spins clockwise.
Clockwise looking down on it.
