Hi, I've found the easiest way to replace the bulb is first remove the center console, just 4 screws. I took this time to clean and wash it, rather my wife did. The remove the two screws near the dash side of the shift console, now there are two screws at the rear of the shift console that just need to be loosened because that end of the shift console has two slotted plastic tabs the screws go over, these are easy to break ( I have broken one) the screws are a pain to loosen too. then just raise the shift console and remove the light bulb from it's socket ( a half or quarter turn ) and remove the bulb from its socket. Now just reverse all the steps. If you have the time or patience left, you can vacumn everywhere ( I did ). One problem I had was that the wires that are at the socket were broken so I went to a local auto-recycler ( junk yard ) and went and found a bulb socket assy and removed it, paid for it ($5.00 ) and instaled it. I hope this helps and good luck. Steve H.
The 1996 GEO Tracker OBD 2 port is on driver side dash next to center console
The shift solenoid is under the console in the shift assembly.
you replace it
Remove the center console to get at the burned out bulb. Consult the vehicle manual to learn how to do this as different models may have slight differences.
It can come with either one. But the standard is an automatic transmission.
un push the button on the shift console. done.
Flat Tracker was created in 1996.
replace it, it should just pop out of the console
Lighter in ThunderbirdThe lighter should be in the center console.. Open the console arm rest and remove two screws that are located under the arm rest that hold the back part of the console. Then lift up on the console and pull it forward and then it should lift up past the gear shift.. after that.. unplug the plug under the console the goes to the lighter and the illumination bulb.. this will let you take the entire console out for easy access.. The rest is a piece of cake..
nothing
You should be able to. I have a 96 engine and auto tranny in a 91 model lsi hardtop. Everything works great.
All of the shift linkage should be internal. You will have to remove transmission, split the transmission in two to access the linkage.
