you replace it
My book says that it means "closed throttle position switch" Ed
Closed throttle position switch
What does code po510 means closed throttle position swith
A TPS sends info to the ECM (engine control module) as to the position of the throttle, be it closed, wide open or anywhere in between. The TPS would be found on the throttle body.
My Haynes repair manual shows : It senses throttle movement and position , then transmits a voltage signal to the PCM . This signal enables the PCM to determine when the throttle is closed , in a cruise position , or wide open . A defective TPS can cause surging , stalling , rough idle and other driveability problems because the PCM thinks the throttle is moving when it is not .
Disconnect the negative battery cableRemove the air intake duct and disconnect the TPS and wide open/closed throttle switch electrical connectorsRemove the two retaining screws and separate the TPS from the throttle body
Throtle position sensors generally have very little adjustment, however, there is a setpoint were you would set a sensor.Disconnect throttle position sensor harness connector. Look at the plug with the lock to the right. The top pin is A the middle is B and the bottom is C Make sure that resistance between terminals b and c changes when opening throttle valve manually. Loosen, but do not remove screws. Adjust TPS B & C to 1000 ohms with throttle closed. Tighten screws
Yes, if the throttle plate is stuck closed.
Most likely it's a vacuum leak.
What do you mean by the "closed position"?
It maintains engine idle rpm when the throttle is closed.
You can not. They have been closed for three years now.
