This is detailed in the Maintenence and Do-it-yourself section of your owners manual. Owners manuals can also be viewed online from Nissan. The cabin air filter is behind the glove box. The glove box must be opened while pressing both sides in until it hangs down completely. Remove the filter cover bolt and then the filters. Replace the filters(two come with each set). Replace cover and glove box. Go to this site to purchase the filters and/or to read about how to replace them.

2000 Nissan xterra cabin air filter
How to change dashboard lights in primera 1999?
yes it's behind the passenger side's glove box... I own a 2002 Nissan xterra and had to do some searching to find it
take of glove compartment then you see the cabin filter
in glove box
where is cabin filter
The cabin filter was introduced to Nissan Frontier's in 2002.
I doubt that a 1993 model has a cabin filter. Go to a parts store and ask for one. If it has one they will sell it to you. Purolator cabin filters come with instructions.
The cabin air filter is located behind the glove compartment, you will have to unscrew 7 screws to remove it and to get access to the Cabin Micro-filters door. Nissan recommends to replace the micro-filters every year or every 15,000 miles.
The 1999 Nissan Maxima does not have a cabin air filter. It never came with one.
I found the diagram by googleing courtesy Nissan parts and searching forthat part name in the interior parts.
