The 98 Cabrio has a sealed transmission, it does not have a dipstick.
You don't say where you are located or the make of your car, but I had mine done locally at an auto upholstery shop. Google "auto upholstery" and the name of your town--you should be able to find someone.
put the top and bottom end to Top dead center loosen the disributer and turn it until the rotor is lined up with the notch. http://xona2.net
inside the folded back top, there should be a little gold switch on the drivers side. you must press the switch while you lift the top. there should be a little diagram around the switch to show you how.

The manual release for the convertible top of a '94-'98 Saab 900 is behind the back seat. It is accesible by folding down the back seat. After you fold down the seat the release is on the right side in the middle. Look for a slit in the fabric and you will see a lever. To release pull lever all the way down.
It is attached to the washer fluid bottle near the bottom

VW sells the oil at $25/quart. Another VW book I read said Dextron III power steering fluid is fine. If you have low oil and the top doesn't work look out for hose leaks and hydraulic cylinder leaks! Cylinders are behind panels next to rear seat. It's a closed system and should not become low. By the way putting in the fluid is a drop at a time situation, a real pain in the ___
All 98 Paseos were fitted with 5EFE engine apart from convertible auto which had a 4EFE
It could be a fuse, relay, or the motor. Start checking for voltage at the motor and work your way to the fuse pannel.
