I have NO idea!!!!!! ... do I????? Funny answer^As do most front wheel drive vehicles, the new VW Beetle has front struts and rear shocks.
Weak trunk struts on a 2003 VW Jetta will not allow the lid to properly stay open. To replace the struts unbolt the mounts holding them to the car and replace them.
It has macpherson struts in the front and torsion springs at the rear.
Some early 71' & 72' VW Super Beetles had flat windshields, later bugs had curved. Major changes were MacPherson struts and changes to the front skirt. The struts ride smoother but can be a pain to replace without proper gear. Unless you know what you're doing it is better left to a pro.
Yes. The new struts will throw off the camber; thus requiring an adjustment.
If they are leaking, damaged, the car sits unlevel, or if after pushing down on the car the car bounces, they probably need replacing. Labor costs should be around $125 and the struts are about $100 each. A wheel alignment is recommended when replacing struts and runs about $60.
you take it to a place that does that kind of stuff.
By the front struts I assume you mean the shocks are stiff and won't move? If they are locked and won't go up or down then the strut shafts probably have rusted to the sides of the shock, the mounts have broken or worn out, etc. You can try to jump on the bumper and see if you can break it free temporarily but either way you will have to replace them. Be careful jumping on the bumper as they aren't the strongest things in the world especially if they're aftermarket.
