Patience. Lots of patience. Dismantle entire dash. Yes, everything. When i did mine I even took out the seats so I had more room to sit there and stare at it wondering what I was thinking when I started. Anyhow :

Remove dash, cluster,gauges, stereo, etc.....

behind what is left by the stereo on the passenger side is the heater core.

Yes it is behind the black blower box

No there is no other way

IF YOUR CLIMATE CONTROL IS FULLY AUTOMATED TAKE EXTREME MEASURES NOT TO F-UP YOUR ACTUATORS (the plastic gear system to open and close your vents) VERY EASY TO BREAK WHEN TAKING OUT BLOWER BOX.

In the engine compartment you will see the attachment hoses, disconnect them.

put animals inside antifreeze will kill them

it is going to be a tight fit to get the new one in.

It may be pliable to an extent but be careful. You don't want to crack the new one.

Re-attach the hoses in the engine compartment

put everything back together after running/testing the new core.
