Take out the whole dash and then the heater core should be behind the glove box on the passenger side.

To change the heater core in a 1963 Chevy Impala, disconnect the negative battery cable and loosen the radiator cap. Remove glove box door and remove wiring connected to the heater core. Then remove the heater core from under the dash and replace with new.
Heater core is under the dash behind the glove box and the bolts are on the firewall to take it out.
The heater core in a 1987 Chevy Celebrity is in the heater plenum to the right of the hump and below the glove compartment.
Detach the screw that attaches the heater duct on a Chevy Cavalier and remove the heater core. Once this is done you can replace the faulty heater core with a functional one.
