The engine in the Mercury Villager does not use a timing chain, it uses a timing belt. The recommended belt replacement interval is 105,000 miles.
The 1999-02 Mercury Villager equipped with a 3.3L V6(SOHC) requires that the cam belt be replace at 105,000. This is an INTERFERANCE engine and as such if the belt breaks, serious engine damage will occur. Do not neglect this service. Also if the water pump is driven by the cam belt, replace it at the same time.
The Villager has an electric fan and does not use a "fan belt".
It has a belt. It is also and interference engine. Severe engine damage will occur if the belt breaks. Replace at 105,000 miles.
On a 2000 Mercury Villager : The recommended timing belt replacement interval is ( 105,000 miles ) The Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) shows it as an INTERFERENCE ENGINE , so if the timing belt breaks engine damage will occur
The 3.0 litre V6 engine in a 1994 Mercury Villager has a timing BELT
All Villagers have a timing belt. Yours should be changed every 65,000 miles. While you're at it, replace the water pump, belt tensioner, and camshaft seals as these require the same amount of time and work to replace separately.
Replace the belt with a new one.
Average is probably around 50.00-80.00 depending on where you go, usually includes belt, but serpentine's are pretty easy to do if you have a helper.
The 3.3 litre V6 engine ( from the factory ) in a 1999 Mercury Villager has a timing BELT
It should have the shoulder and seat belt.
The Mercury Villager does not have an interference engine (in spite of what you might hear) and will not be damaged if the belt breaks.
