you have to remove the 2 brackets of the rear panel situated where the rear window close, then take the rear panel up, that's all
You have to remove the interior trim of the lift gate.
Remove the wiper arm, then the nut that is is on the part you see from the outside. Lift the lift gate, and remove the platic trim panel by using trim remover tool. disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the mounting bolts that hold the motor in place.
you must be talking rear the front is struts the rear is not hard with rear seat in fold down position remove the quarter trim lift the carpet you will see rear shock nut remove nut lift car remove bottom nut remove shock then replace if you are talking front they are spring loaded and very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing
Door Latch 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the lift gate trim panel. 3. On navigator, remove the license plate bracket. 4. Remove the lift gate latch screws. 5. Separate the lift gate latch from the lift gate. 6. Detach the door open warning lamp electrical connector *** Warning*** 7. Disconnect the lift gate latch control cable. 8. Remove the lift gate latch. 9. The installation is the reverse of the removal. > If necessary, use Multi-Purpose Grease Spray F5AZ-19G209-AA or equivalent meeting Ford Specification ESR-M1C159-A to lubricate the latch.
Was just removing the rear interior trim paneling of our Grand Cherokee this afternoon chasing a water leak. In order to remove the rear lift gate trim panel, the gate has to be open to its fullest extent, as there are three Phillips screws which need to be removed around the interior pull down handle. Once those three screws are out, the whole entire trim panel is retained by a mixture of metal and plastic snap anchors which will pop out when you pull on the panel. The best way to pry off the panel once the Phillips screws are out so as to avoid damage, is to use a body shop pry tool which resembles a flattened "cats paw" screw driver type handle.
Remove the center piece of trim on the inside of the lift gate. it just pulls off. then push up on the two tabs at the bottom of the light to remove it. then replace bulb with the correct bulb. .....
The tail gate control mudule is located behind the plastic trim (wall) at the left rear of the vehicle. Beside the small compartment and below the rear speaker.....
remove the trim from the interior of the lift gate. There is access to the connecting rods that will release the catch from the Nader bolts.
Pull your liner down at the front points of rear bumper and remove the two #10 bolts....take visable bolts and clips off the bottom of cover....lift gate---open storage compartment---remove plastic clips that hold liner and remove liner---remove two black clips that hold trim plate and remove trim plate---there will be 5 #10 bolts inside holes in to remove .....pull cover off! Note: from front points of cover to gate the cover just snaps in.

You have to take the back seat out, and then remove the trim panels, you also might have to remove some of the headliner in the back to get the trim off, then you can get to the rear speakers, its one hell of a job
