To change rear wheel bearing seals;
jack up vehicle.remove both wheels.
Back off brakes if drum brakes,remove caliper if disk brakes
remove axle from wheel hub
remove wheel hub/ brake drum/brake disk
You will need a special socket to remove axle nut from axle; be sure to get socket to fit rear axle nut as it is larger than front axle nut
place hub on a clean surface
remove oil seal from big end of hub
intall new seal
it is a good time to check bearings while you have it tore down to this point
replace hub on vehicle
install outer bearing
tighten axle nut do not over tighten ,turn hub by hand you do not want any sideways movement nor do you want any dragging
make sure axle flange and face of hub are both clean and old gasket removed
place a little silicone gasket sealer on face of hub and inside of axle flange
place gasket on hub,lining up bolt holes
install axle back into hub
u may have to turn hub for axle to slip into differential
install axle bolts and cones
tighten to proper torgue
replace whheels
then do the same on other side of vehicle if seal is leaking
Bearing & seals will run you about $150-$200 for parts and about 2 hours labour
no need to replace wheel bearing unless the wheel bearing is worn out
